“My tour was incredible, partly because you had the foresight and wisdom to partner with a local guide, who made all the difference.  He was informative and helpful and I learned so much.” International hiker

Experience the wonders of Portugal in this Signature Journey!

The small country of Portugal offers an astounding variety of trails and routes. Many people are familiar with the well known coastal routes, but in true Timberline fashion, we explore beyond the coast, up to the highest point in continental Portugal. This is a breathtaking journey through the heart of Portugal, where timeless stone villages, soaring mountain landscapes, and dramatic Atlantic coastlines come together in a perfect blend of culture, nature, and charm.

Begin in Idanha-a-Velha, where Roman ruins and olive groves echo with history, and climb through the boulder-strewn village of Monsanto, full of postcard views. Stroll medieval Sortelha and explore Belmonte’s Jewish roots and castle, and hike the glacial valleys and alpine forests of Serra da Estrela. Step into the fairytale slate village of Piódão, nestled in the hills, and discover Coimbra’s vibrant student life and UNESCO-listed university. Follow the rugged coast from Vimeiro to Santa Cruz and its golden beaches and wander Sintra’s magical forests, palaces, and whimsical estates. Hike to Colares, tasting Ramisco wine amid vineyards and sea views, and finish in the fishing village of Cascais, where elegance meets the Atlantic in a perfect seaside farewell. This tour has it all!!

This tour is offered in partnership with Portugal Nature Trails, who designed and will run the tour

We are a local Adventure and Nature Tourism company, welcoming travelers from all over the world and set out to offer the most outstanding and breathtaking hiking and cycling tours in Portugal.

We launched Portugal Nature Trails in 2004, with the belief that other travelers would share the same aspiration for adventure tourism, within a culture of respect for nature and people. At that time, we had nothing more than a love for travel and adventure, associated with a conviction the planet earth is a great place to discover and respect.

Time has passed and we’ve grown, but our desire to give our client the best experience hasn’t changed. See what clients say about us.
