Redwood National and State Parks, located in Northern California, is an amalgamation of parks including Del Norte Coast Redwoods, Prairie Creek Redwoods, and Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Parks, along with Redwood National Park.  The parks offer an unparalleled experience for nature lovers, adventure seekers, and anyone looking to connect with the majesty of the natural world. The primary draw of the parks is the towering ancient redwoods, including Sequoia sempervirens, the tallest trees on Earth. You will be awestruck by the sheer size and age of these trees, some of which have stood for more than 2,000 years.

Beyond the towering trees, the parks offer an incredibly diverse range of ecosystems. From dense coastal fog that blankets the groves to lush, fern-filled valleys, we will explore a wide variety of terrains. The diverse wildlife, including Roosevelt elk, black bears, and countless bird species, makes for excellent wildlife viewing.

Hiking is a key activity, with a network of trails ranging from easy, accessible paths to more rugged, backcountry routes available for our adventure. The parks also feature dramatic coastlines with sweeping vistas of the Pacific Ocean, and serene rivers and streams where people enjoy kayaking, fishing, or just relaxing by the water.

The parks are jointly managed by the National Park System and the California State Parks System, and they offer a rare chance to experience one of the planet’s most magnificent natural wonders, where time slows down and nature’s grandeur is on full display.  It is truly a “hidden” gem!

Our tour visits each of the protected areas for unique hikes highlighting the best of the area.  We spend 3 nights in Crescent City, where the headquarters of the parks is located.  Locals describe Crescent City as a quiet, coastal town that exudes a laid-back, small-town charm, with a deep connection to its natural surroundings.  For our last 2 nights we move to a quaint community to the south of Orick.  Each day we explore a different area of the parks, from strolls along the beach, to trails among the giant Redwoods. And from bluffs with breathtaking coastal views, to stunning river valleys, and explorations within the diverse ecosystems. This is one of the most beautiful and unique natural environments in the world.
