Experience the Best Hiking in Joshua Tree

Joshua Tree has been a national monument since 1936, and in 1994 it was elevated to national park protection for good reason. Desert, oases, mountains, slot canyons, mazes of rocks, and of course an abundance of the cherished Joshua trees, combine to create a region of incredible diversity and a hiker’s paradise. The Mojave and the Colorado desert ecosystems come together in the park, supporting an interesting mix of flora and fauna.  There is also a wilderness designation within the boundaries which protects the plants and animals, including the threatened desert tortoise.

You will witness firsthand the quirky nature of the area—so close to Palm Springs, yet a world away—and the town of Twentynine Palms, an incongruous blend of weird and sophistication. The sprawling terrain is scattered with monolithic rocks and towering Joshua Trees.  Its skies are painted with color at dawn and dusk, and daytime spring wildflowers are in bloom. The night skies bring an abundance of stars and the stunning Milky Way.  In fact, a Dark Sky designation has been award to the national park, offering amazing night time views.   Twentynine Palms Inn will be our home for all five nights on our Joshua Tree National Park hiking tour.
