Virgin Island Hiking and Snorkeling
The Caribbean Islands brings up images of white, sandy beaches, cool ocean breezes, and sipping mai tais in a hammock. But what if this scene came after a fascinating hike through the interior, along historic plantation ruins from the times when sugar dominated the island, past petroglyphs carved by the Taino Indians, and to secluded, hidden beaches, hosting coral reefs teeming with marine life? This will be the case on our hiking tour to the Virgin Islands National Park, which covers two thirds of the island of St. John in the US Virgin Islands.
National Park Tour
Each day’s adventure will bring a new perspective to the island, and each afternoon will offer a chance to relax and rejuvenate in your favorite manner. The island has survived many hurricanes in the past decades, but the residents continue to rebuild, always trying to improve. Power is mostly dependable, roads continue to be repaved, beaches get cleaned up and trails are refurbished with sustainability in mind. One does need to travel with “island time” in mind, but for each trip, we discover new treasures and come away with a new appreciation for the tropics. Join us in exploring another of our fabulous national parks, Timberline style.
