“As always, love the Timberline approach to hiking trips.”  Satisfied Hawaii hiker

Vast, surreal lava fields streaming from towering massive mountains that rise from the ocean floor;  a lush remote valley whose parameters are defined by 1000 foot walls and whose landscape is punctuated by a myriad of thunderous waterfalls;  miles and miles of remote black sand beaches  – this is the Big Island of Hawaii!  We are headed to the newest land on the planet as Kilauea continues to be active and grow the island.  The road through the National Park remains open, and we will explore the entire island on this 6 day tour.  Besides a look at the fiery mountain, we will explore stretches of beach inhabited by ancestral Hawaiians, lush trails leading to hidden beaches, cliff edge walks that plunge to the ocean below, black sand beaches, spectacular waterfalls and historic, laid-back Hawaiian lodging.  We will end the tour with a more classic stay in a resort community overlooking the ocean, hiking near the beach and an optional afternoon of snorkeling in famous Kealakekua Bay.
