Cycle Along California’s Highway 1

One of America’s most scenic roadways is California’s Highway 1, as it snakes southward from Monterey, hugging the incomparable Pacific shoreline through Big Sur, Cambria, San Luis Obispo, Pismo Beach and down to Santa Barbara.  Nowhere along the entirety of the Pacific coastline are the cliffs so sheer, the headlands so overpowering and the surf as wild and relentless as that which characterizes the dramatic tapestry of the Central Coast.  The thrill and challenge of cycling along this shoreline is equaled in the opportunity to explore the rolling verdant valleys to the east where we pass countless vineyards and wineries in one of the world’s great wine-producing regions.  Escape the crowded Napa valley and enjoy the adventure of California’s Central Coast.

Ride Your Bike From Santa Cruz to Santa Barbara

We begin the tour in Santa Cruz, the ultra-mellow surfing town, just a short drive from the San Jose airport.  Our coastal cruz wanders around Monterey Bay on small roads and bike paths, before finding the beautiful 17-Mile Drive to Carmel-By-The-Sea, and continuing past Rocky Point over many arched bridges and along the spectacular headlands that extend to Big Sur.  Continuing farther south we hop over to the vineyards of San Luis Obispo County, back to the beach, back over to the Santa Ynez Valley, before our final ride into Santa Barbara.
