Our Southern California Cycling Tour
Southern California in the Springtime! With perfect weather, cool ocean breezes and lost canyons to explore, this cycling tour will be unforgettable. With just one hotel move on the tour, you’ll have a chance to unpack and enjoy the Southern California vibe, not to mention the excellent wines of the region, after a good day’s cycling.
Spanish Mission, Lake Casitas and Solvang
The first 2 days are spent in the Santa Barbara area near it’s Landmark Spanish Mission. Santa Barbara is known as The American Riviera® thanks to its Spanish Colonial Revival architecture, rich heritage, world-renowned food and wine scene, stunning natural beauty and near-perfect weather. Our first ride takes us on a loop around the city, with a spur up to Lake Casitas reservoir. From here, we move on to Solvang. This town is known as “The Danish Capital of America”, where you can stroll the town looking for Danish pastries, or sampling wine in the shade of windmills. Solvang is a sun-soaked slice of Danish culture in the Santa Ynez Valley, where California wine cellars mix with European bakeries and shops, and you can drink, dine and shop like a Dane without ever leaving the California sunshine.
Vanderberg State Marine Reserve, Four Canyons, and Refugio Pass!
We have two out and back rides from town that will showcase the wineries and vineyards of the area, and the proximity to the ocean. The rides are challenging but exhilerating, and the comfort of the van is always nearby. Our return to Santa is a spectacular, little used route over Refugio Pass in the Santa Ynez Mountains, then a quick descent to the coastline and Route 1, where we avoid the main highway using side roads and bike paths where possible. We enter town through the Goleta Valley, concluding our tour on Goleta Beach where is it short hop to the airport. We can also return you to downtown Santa Barbara if you are staying longer to enjoy the California sunshine.
